Hi,
I host a show called Google At A Glance and we talk about the week's Google news.

I'm starting a new show called "From The Plex" that is a one minute update on the Google headlines. I'm looking to distribute this weekly to any interested podcast for them to play during their show. I've put together how an average show would sound and you can listen via the YouTube link below.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zrh-k5ULJRQ&feature=youtu.be

The idea is that this segment in your show would give listeners content that your show doesn't directly talk about.

Let me know if you'd be interested. There's no contract you have to agree to and it will be distributed free of charge. I would email the mp3 file once a week and you're free to use it during your show(s). All I ask is that you leave the clip in its entirety and don't edit.

You actually reflect a lot of what the creators and audience had to say about the situation. Print is going to be a premium and for the "hardcore" audience in the near future, it seems. Much like we're seeing physical copies of music and movies becomes commoditized by digital distribution and streaming.

Cost is a huge factor to me. Seeing comics at $2 instead of $4 on a mature platform is really interesting to me and bringing me back to maybe taking on regular comics once more. Even as I'm looking at the major story line like 52 Weeks, and realizing that's 51 issues (first one's free) for $2 a piece. That's a huge chuck. And I don't think it's for the mainstream at all.

As for the resale, there was indications that Comixology has a whole list of things they want to add to the app that will just take time. ie. the ability to "borrow" books like Kindle currently does. The audience took them to task with a lot of these thoughts to make the experience better and they seem receptive. There was also a challenge to them to recreate the community you get from a good comics shop would locally.

Per the eComics discussion -- if they really want to get comic sales to go mainstream, they need to get the price down to the $1 range. The mainstream reader wants to read the whole story, that means buying crossovers and having multiple subscriptions, and that market is not going to subscribe to multiple books that cost several dollars apiece.

It also goes to the larger eMedia discussion. Producers of movies, software, books, etc seem to not realize that some of the inherent value in physical copies is the re-sale or trade value. You can't re-sell or trade electronic files as easily if at all, which means they are automatically worth less. Add the fact that the user knows there is less production cost and almost no distribution cost involved, and they have a harder time swallowing the price when it's the same as or just a little less than the physical media.

I'm not saying they won't get sales -- they already do. But if they want that mainstream money, they need to price for that audience. PLUS, then they can produce fewer physical copies, price them higher, and make them instant collector's items like they used to be. Comic publishers need to learn from what's happening to the music industry and be smarter. It may hurt at first, but the payoff will come soon and be MUCH better.

Great show guys. Father Spoon was a great in-studio guest. Loved what Mike had to say about the future of the newspaper business. Most papers face certain death if they didn't get with the "times" (no pun intended).

"Page One: Inside the New York Times" looks like a documentary that will tell this story very well.

Love the show. Very laid back. I'm here on the left coast, but I feel the sense of community you guys have there in Pittsburgh. And I admire it.

Cheers,
