Game 21: Everquest 1
here is some history on the game Straight from Wiki: often shortened to EQ, is a 3D fantasy-themed massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) that was released on the 16th of March, 1999. It was published by Sony Online Entertainment (SOE).
Ok, so another MMO option out there for the fans of the genre or gaming fans in general. Im not sorry i had to play this game. there was some good points and a lot of bad points.
Lets start with the good: Quick install, not hard, doesnt fill the hard drive. Awesome. Full character options for creation. Tons of races and classes. Fantastic. love that. i went with a High Elf Warrior. it was a toss up between that and a Dark Elf Wizard.
So not bad. Well Done.
This game has alot of influences when it comes to the concept and game play. They took some things from MUDS. Character interaction, Quest getting/Completion. Again, Well done.
Theme and elements come from traditional Rpgs: D&d. Once more, Well done. alos, i played the whole trial of ten levels which means it kept my interest. So theres that. It hasnt been often in this section that ive done that.
So lets move on to what i found wrong with the game.
Oh, Sony. Remember that time on Awesomecast i expressed my disgust at you? Well, this did not improve my vision of you any.
The install went fine. Normal stuff. Download, install. and then there is supposed to be play….. You instead get this:
Load time varies. i averaged at about 5 mins. Prebuilt bathroom break, gotcha. Fine, no biggie i can deal with that.
i got signed up with no issues. loaded the character creation no issues. Flew through this until it got to the name. i figured since this was a trial i wouldnt be creative. I hit the random button, and clicked finish. Ding! name in use. Oh, ok fine, lets repeat the process….. 15 times. I finally decided to use SOme of the names i gave to my old D&D characters. Come on boys, time to go work…. wrong. Name in use. 4 times. 20th time is the charm in this game i guess……
It then proceeded to try to load the game. Le sigh, Server busy, try again later….. wait, what??? you have to have hundreds of servers and homie cant get one??? Yeah, not good.
10 mins later im in and playing away, 10 levels flew by quickly in this one….
Chachi Says: Its not a bad game to play. Getting to play however sucks…. I wouldnt pay for this and honestly neither should you.
