Game 38: Pong

Pong
1972
Atari

If you have never heard of pong, its either because you are too young and i can fault you for that or its because you are not a gamer. In which case im not quite sure why or how you stumbled upon one of my many little slices of the internet but welcome anyhow.

Pong however was a huge part of starting not only the arcade revolution but also the in house gaming. The orignal prototype was placed in only one bar Andy Capps Tavern, Sunnyvale, California. it’s rumored that the owner called atari shortly after the machine was placed there because the “coin slot was jammed” upon further investigation it was just full. And so started an industry.

Atari’s mistake with this game though was the fact that they didnt patent it in time, so competitors hurried and made their clones of the of the machine.  They survived by doing what they did best, continue to innovate and create the gaming industry. Except e.t. that was a pile of garbage.

I guess i should get into the game description for you…

Two dimension table tennis…..  and im spent.
one or two players thats it.
heres the graphics!

Chachi Says: Despite the simplicity this type of thing was new, exciting and tons of fun. hell even i stll love an epic game of pong now and then.
