It was not always real life in which man wanted to go to space and explore, but video games as well. Travelling to the great unknown, blasting away at creatures that are probably just confused as to why you are all up in their ‘hood. However, invasion or not we arent about to let some punk ass aliens bust up our rides, so we fight back… Guess this scenerio kind of got away from me….. oops.
So, at this point in time, something that was not all that regular was a side scrolling, to the point that the pre-release reviews stated that this particular game would never catch on because, Ready for this? you better sit down. THERE WERE TOO MANY BUTTONS! All the forward, backward, up down moving, the firing of the guns, the dropping of teh bombs. This game just had waaaaaaay too much to do. Man, talk about gamers being lazy.
This is the defender command center.
7 count ‘em 7 buttons! Now i realize that in this time, that was alot, considering that the norm was a joystick and an action button. But its not like you were hitting 3 or 4 buttons at a time. i would really like to hear what these same people thought when they saw this….
There minds mustve been blown to know that there are 3 different directional utilities, and 8 action buttons. and it fits in your hand. Im sure the janitors wouldve been upset by the mind exploding messes they wouldve had to clean up.
The game ended up being a hit all because the creator figured out that people didnt want patterns and predictability everytime. So, he created changing action, tricky foes, and more than one shooting option. The days of pure puzzle and pattern were over, enter the day of the devious gaming.
Chachi Says: like anything this game is difficult at first, mainly while you get used to the controls. However it is fun to play and a stepping stone to the future in its time.
