This past week, I had the pleasure to speak with the guys from Vivo, a local startup here in the Pitsburgh area. So, with the continuing issues with BlogTV, we decided to move on. Our first pick was Ustream, but for this week, you can join us at .
Please bear with us as we experiment with this new technology…
I’m not referring to the highly recommended social book (that’s on my to read list after a recent Kevin Rose guested TWIT). I’m talking about having people around you when you watch your wrestling. Wrestling is something to be watched in crowds of people. It’s filmed in front of over 10,000 fans each week. So much is adapted to those reactions.
So what are you missing sitting there alone on Monday Nights?
I’ve experienced that feeling. Watching any of the shows or pay per views by yourself, or with someone just not that into it because you have it on. It’s hard to get into as well unless you’re into the mood. In recent weeks, I found myself watching a particular PPV that I just couldn’t get into a little bit. Then a RAW that was quite fantastic (the Seth Green encounters) that I just phased out and started doing work instead. Only catching residual information from the show so I know what’s going on the next day when we record the podcast. But even then, it’s on the outer rims of my memory. Not that great for discussion.
Lately, I’ve returned to watching Pay Per Views at Fox and Hound, despite the cover charge, and revisited the reaction factor. For Night of Champions, it was an eye opener. I never expected the opening tag match, with Big Show revealed as the mystery partner, to get applause. To see the reactions and heckling of CM Punk’s long winding, but amazing, promo about Jeff Hardy basically being a gateway drug to marajuana, and his “dyabolical” arm bands that the kids wear, all with the undertones of the failure of parenting in America. The factions of people that were pro Cena, Triple H, and/or Orton, and the reactions to the false tap out, then subsequent dirty win by Legacy.
It’s not just there. Everytime we go to a live show with our Mayhem Crew, there are groups of chants you don’t hear on television. Subtle things that just don’t carry over. Reactions that just surprise us. Whether it’s small factions of pro Jericho fans chanting when he’s completely heeling out, or the sheer intensity of reaction to a Jeff Hardy or John Cena entrance, those are things you can’t appreciate on television as well.
And on the latter end. Twitter and chat rooms. Often, you can find Mayhem Crew and fans gathering in chat rooms on BlogTV, or in the IWC Chat. You can sometimes see some commentary on the Twitter streams.
So if you find yourself feeling burned out and bored with what you’re watching, invite some friends over, get out to see the show at a bar, or join up with a chat that isn’t full of trolls. It might change your perspective on what’s going on a bit.
Big show next Saturday as the International Wrestling Cartel brings the Legends of Wrestling Superfly Jimmy Snuka, Paul Orndorff, and Dominic Danucci to the Pittsburgh area down in Elizabeth, PA. Those that listen to the Wrestling Mayhem Show know we are big fans of these guys, and they always deliver on their shows! This is some of the best wrestling in the area. There will be autograph sessions starting at 6 PM, and the show kicks off at 8 PM!
We also had the chance to talk with Jimmy Demarco, who faces Ray Rowe from Cleveland in a Bounty Match, on the Mayhem Show this past week. Tune in to check that out and learn about what’s coming up.
Thats right, another fighter has thrown his hat into the ring to fight “The Last Emperor”. Who is it now? Kimbo Slice? Tito Ortiz? Fedors own brother, Aleksander? No, Its The Wrestling Mayhem Shows own Dj Lunchbox.
A strange choice to be sure but Mr Lunchbox seems confident. “Fedor? He is the best in the world, everyone knows that. So why not start my career on top?” Mr Lunchbox was so confident, in fact, he threw in a jab at current UFC Heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar. “I realize my record is 0-0-0, but the fact of the mater is, Certain others aren’t much better. Lesnar, Lashley, these guys only have 4 and 5 pro fights under their belts. For that matter, Brock lost one! I’m already better off than he is! And where the fuck did he that knife tattoo? I mean seriously.” Strong words from the man who, up until this afternoon, was an unknown in the world of MMA.
Does he have a chance though? The voices of MMA seem to think so. Dana White was quoted as saying: “If anyone has a decent chance of taking down Fedor, its Dj Lunchbox. He has the skills needed to get the job done.” Joe Rogan has faith in the young man as well. “Dj Lunchbox is as tough as they come. I saw him in the jungles of Canada beating a bear to death with, guess what, a bear skull. Besides, what is Fedor but a sleepy Russian bear?” When we approached UFC vet and former pro wrestler Ken Shamrock, he said simply “Lunchbox wants the fight now? Fedor is fucked.”
Lunchbox trains at the SI (Sorgatron International) training camp. His trainer, Sorgatron, was quoted as saying “I tried to talk him out of it. I tried to tell him, you’re not ready, Bears don’t have thumbs, Fedor almost certainly will. But he wouldn’t listen. He wants to tear that Russian limb from limb. I think it has something to do with Rocky 3. I know that 4 was the one with the Russian and 3 was the one with Mr T and Hulk Hogan, but you have to understand, Lunchbox REALLY hates Hulk Hogan. Also he gets confused a lot.”
Lunchbox looked eager and ready at his press conference held in Las Vegas earlier today. “I have all the respect in the world for Fedor. I mean, he’s FEDOR!” At this point Lunchbox paused and chose his next words carefully. “But he’s never fought anyone like me. His career is over. I’ll see to it personally.”
